Making painting look easy

Chiel van Zelst (@amsterdampainter) captures the scenery and the spirit of his hometown in a unique and original way. His style of painting has been influenced by the Old Masters and by Contemporay Street Art and Punk Rock Grafitti Culture. Together they blend into his own style of painting.

'I like to make my art raw and direct. I am hardly ever satisfied with the result, and to me a painting is only finished when it's sold.'

Chiel van Zelst ('64 Amsterdam) studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and at the School of Visual Arts in New York. His work is being featured in many homes around the world. He makes and sells his work direct from his atelier/gallery in the center of Amsterdam.
